New Submission System for Notifiable Works

28 April 2017

The Queensland Building and Construction Commission have created a new system for plumbers and drainers to submit Form 4s. The new solution replaced the current online function performed through the Plumbing Application System (or PAS).

There are some new features available to help make the notifiable work lodgment process easier and simpler for licensees and their staff.

The Master Plumbers’ Association of Queensland, (MPAQ), is commending the Minister for Housing and Public Works and the Minister for Sport, the Hon Mick de Brenni MP for implementing the upgraded lodgement process through myQBCC now available for plumbers and drainers.

Notifiable Work was introduced in 2012 by the Queensland Government, allowing qualified plumbers and drainers to perform works and “notify” the government of the work completed, instead of requiring a costly and timely inspection. This removed the requirement for local government plumbing inspectors to attend the site, saving the consumer money.

Although the change was introduced in 2012, some consumers are still unaware that the plumber needs to provide them with a Form 4.

When having notifiable work performed, consumers will be presented with a form 4. This allows the consumer the assurance that the work has been performed in compliance with the law and the government has been notified.

MPAQ is urging consumers to be aware that the receipt of a Form 4 (where required) is proof that the work is compliant.

The new lodgement process through myQBCC was developed in consultation with all areas of the industry, including licensees, local governments, peak bodies, public sector entities and administrators.

There is an enhanced address search option to provide accurate location details and a guided view that makes it easier to choose the correct category of work.

There is also the ability to have a nominated representative lodge Form 4s on behalf of a licensee through their own myQBCC account and to pay for multiple Form 4s at once.

Any consumers unsure of the laws can contact the Association for more information or find a Master Plumber by calling 07 3273 0800.
