New plumbing guidelines are now available online

Queensland’s plumbing laws commenced on 1 July 2019. These form part of the Queensland Building Plan and deliver reforms to make our construction industry safer, fairer and more sustainable.

Under the new laws, plumbing guidelines can be made to help local governments and industry achieve consistency and compliance with the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2018.

A guideline Requirements for installing temperature control devices has been developed to clarify the circumstances where a temperature control device is required to be fitted to a heated water system installed in Queensland.

The Requirements for water meters in new developments guideline replicates the superseded version Sub-meter guidelines—for councils, plumbers, builders, developers, water service providers and community title managers. Legislative references and terminology have been updated to reflect the new plumbing laws.
