Award Wages to Increase by 3.5%

The Fair Work Commission has today announced a 3.5% increase to minimum wages. The increase will apply from the first full pay period starting on or after 1 July 2018.

Commencing on 1 July 2018 the national minimum wage will increase to $18.93 per hour or an extra $24.30 per week. This represents an increase of 3.5% from the current national minimum wage. The national minimum wage applies to employees who aren’t covered by an award or agreement. The national minimum wage will now be $719.20 per week from 1 July 2018.The 3.5% increase will flow on to the modern award rates, which means a plumbing tradesperson’s rate will increase by $28 per week.

MPAQ will be updating the current wage sheets and they will be available on our website to MPAQ members prior to 1 July 2018, subject to the information being released by Fair Work.
