School-Based Apprentices Hours Of Work

Wages Awards

We would like to provide an important clarification regarding the wage sheet for school-based apprentices. We had previously had a section which provided for a 25% loading on the wages paid which has caused some confusion.

To clarify, the interpretation is that a school-based apprentice is to be paid 25% of the actual hours worked per week.

For example:

Taylor is a full-time school student undertaking a school-based plumbing apprenticeship. They work 8 hours per week.

  • As well as the 8 hours, Taylor also gets paid an additional 2 hours per week for the off-the-job training (25% of 8 hours). Taylor is paid a total of 10 hours per week as their ordinary hours of work.

We are committed to providing accurate and reliable information, and we appreciate your understanding and patience as we ensure that the details are communicated effectively.
