Advocacy and Representation

Our significant membership base means that we have political and lobbying strength, as well as the ability to advocate policy to all key stakeholders. We are also in a position to highlight the pivotal role that plumbing and gasfitting professionals play in the living standards of all Australians.

We are committed to regional member representation, and as such have a strategic focus of engagement with all of our members throughout Queensland. By working from a regional to a state structure, MPAQ is able to build on our members’ needs and ensure that their input is heard.

MPAQ also develops and advocates policy recognising the importance of the plumbing and gas industry to all Queenslanders. We steadfastly communicate the views and policies of our members by actively contributing to enquiries and forums that impact on the plumbing sector.
 

Priorities for the Plumbing and Gas Industry

Amidst the intricate plumbing and gas landscape, MPAQ released an Engagement Framework as a guiding compass, outlining the industry’s priorities and concerns.

This comprehensive document not only underscores the sector’s vital role in community well-being and environmental preservation but also highlights the commitments of Master Plumbers’ Association of Queensland (MPAQ). With a history tracing back to 1900, MPAQ is the foremost representative of plumbing contractors across Queensland, catering to businesses of varying sizes. Unified in purpose, the Association amplifies industry voices, offers quality membership services, and champions excellence while addressing subpar practices. Beyond mere representation, MPAQ’s robust membership empowers policy advocacy and emphasises the significance of plumbing and gas professionals in enhancing living standards. Amidst expansion and strategic outreach, MPAQ’s pragmatic approach promises continued industry growth and development.

In order to ensure the longevity of our industry, MPAQ has a vested interest in promoting both the professional and personal opportunities that can arise from being a plumber or gasfitter.

Since 2016, MPAQ has appointed a number of ambassadors from across Queensland who have represented the profession at career expos and schools to encourage career seekers and school students to consider a future in the plumbing and gas industry. As well as talking to students about studying an apprenticeship and explaining where a trade can take them both professionally and personally, the ambassadors also engage with business owners to grow the number of opportunities available to those seeking a plumbing apprenticeship.

Ambassadors have the opportunity to share their story and get the personal satisfaction of giving back to the industry.
