CPCPGS4011 Design and size consumer gas installations
This is an accredited three-day course that is one of the four Certificate IV units required to transition from an interim gas licence to a full gas licence in Queensland. 

This unit focuses on developing the skills and knowledge required to design and size consumer gas installations, including consumer piping, flueing, and ventilation systems.

Key learning outcomes include:

  • Preparing effectively for gas installation design tasks
  • Determining specific gas installation requirements
  • Creating detailed plans and layouts for systems
  • Completing the design process in line with industry standards

This unit ensures participants are equipped to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant gas installation designs.

 Assessments for this course are conducted in both a practical and theoretical setting.

Course Outcomes

On successful completion of this course learners will be able to:

  • prepare for design work;
  • identify system requirements for consumer gas installations;
  • plan and design the system layout for various consumer gas installations;
  • apply relevant safety, quality assurance and sustainability requirements; and 
  • identify and complete all relevant documentation.
Course Recognition 

On successful completion of this course learners will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

  • Members: $969 (GST Free)
  • Non-members: $1,273 (GST Free)
MPAQ Member Discount

MPAQ members (contracting members and associate councils only) are eligible for a discount on MPAQ courses. 

In order to access the discount you must fulfil one of the following eligibility requirements:

  • You must be a member for at least one year if paying for membership monthly; or 
  • You must pay for your membership upfront for one year.

As of 27 June 2025, our allocation of Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) funding has been fully exhausted. We are proud to have supported individuals and businesses through CSQ-funded training, and we thank you for your support and understanding.

Additional Fees

Additional fees may apply for the process of applying for your full Gas licence in Queensland. These fees and charges will be incurred from the Resources, Safety and Health Queensland and any issues with these fees should be raised directly with them.

Academic Integrity

Using another person’s language, ideas, or expressions without proper acknowledgement is considered plagiarism.

AI tools are not a substitute for your own knowledge, thinking, and originality. Information generated by AI may also be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. Submitting AI-generated content as your own work without permission or acknowledgement is considered a breach of academic integrity.

Students are responsible for following the assessment requirements and conditions for each task and for participating in learning and assessment activities ethically.

MPAQ takes academic integrity and plagiarism seriously. When submitting an assessment, students must sign a declaration confirming that the work is their own. Assessments submitted without a signed acknowledgement on the cover sheet will not be marked.

If a breach of academic integrity or plagiarism is identified, the student may be contacted to provide further information. Confirmed breaches may result in reassessment, suspension, or cancellation of enrolment. Where enrolment is cancelled, re-enrolment may be required, and associated fees may apply.
