This is an accredited two-day course that is one of the four Certificate IV units required to transition from an interim gas licence to a full gas licence in Queensland.
This course provides comprehensive training on current legislation and practices related to estimating and costing for work, with a focus on classroom-based learning. It equips participants with the skills and knowledge required to accurately estimate materials, labor, and time requirements, as well as establish costs for delivering services or products.

- Gathering relevant information
- Estimating materials and time needed for tasks
- Calculating costs accurately
- Preparing and managing associated documentation
This unit is specifically designed to develop the expertise needed to create detailed quotations for services provided to Class 1 buildings, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Assessments for this course are conducted in both a practical and theoretical setting.

Course Outcomes
On successful completion of this course learners will be able to:
- identify sources and gather information relevant to estimating and costing plumbing services;
- calculate materials, labour, and time requirements to complete plumbing work using information sourced from the work site or provided drawings and specifications, including the use of proprietary estimating software;
- identify safety requirements relevant to plumbing work, its effect on work methods, and cost of completing work;
- cost plumbing projects taking into account materials, labour, overhead costs, contingencies, and required mark-up percentages; and
- develop documentation relating to estimating, costing, and presentation of tenders/quotation to client.
Course Recognition
On successful completion of this course learners will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

In order to access the discount you must fulfil one of the following eligibility requirements:
- You must be a member for at least one year if paying for membership monthly; or
- You must pay for your membership upfront for one year.

Additional Fees
Additional fees may apply for the process of applying for your full Gas licence in Queensland. These fees and charges will be incurred from the Resources, Safety and Health Queensland and any issues with these fees should be raised directly with them.

Using another person’s language, ideas, or expressions without proper acknowledgement is considered plagiarism.
AI tools are not a substitute for your own knowledge, thinking, and originality. Information generated by AI may also be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. Submitting AI-generated content as your own work without permission or acknowledgement is considered a breach of academic integrity.
Students are responsible for following the assessment requirements and conditions for each task and for participating in learning and assessment activities ethically.
MPAQ takes academic integrity and plagiarism seriously. When submitting an assessment, students must sign a declaration confirming that the work is their own. Assessments submitted without a signed acknowledgement on the cover sheet will not be marked.
If a breach of academic integrity or plagiarism is identified, the student may be contacted to provide further information. Confirmed breaches may result in reassessment, suspension, or cancellation of enrolment. Where enrolment is cancelled, re-enrolment may be required, and associated fees may apply.
