The Role of the Board
The MPAQ Board provides leadership, sets the strategic and policy direction, and oversees the business and affairs of the Association in alignment with its core purpose, to be the peak industry body representing plumbing and gas contractors in Queensland. The Board is supported by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and their appointed team. While the Board is accountable to the members for the overall performance of the Association, the responsibility for day-to-day operations is delegated to the CEO.

What We’re Looking For
We welcome expressions of interest from members who:
- Bring diverse perspectives and experiences.
- Have a strong commitment to the values and purpose of our Association.
- Are willing to contribute time and expertise to Board meetings and related activities.
- Have skills in areas such as governance, finance, strategy, risk management, or community engagement (not essential but highly valued).
Board Term and Commitment
Board appointments are typically for a two-year term. During this time, Directors are expected to:
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight in line with MPAQ’s mission.
- Attend scheduled Board meetings (bimonthly meetings) and actively contribute to discussions and decision-making.
- Volunteer their time to support member engagement and industry visibility through events and outreach.
- Comply with governance requirements, including confidentiality and conflict of interest disclosures.
- Act in the best interest of the Association and its members.
This includes:
- Attending at least three (3) MPAQ networking events per year.
- Participating in at least three (3) external industry events annually to represent and promote the Association.
- Calling ten (10) members each year, with a contact list provided by MPAQ staff, to maintain strong member connections.
