QBCC: A good build helps build Queensland
The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is dedicated to protecting the building and construction industry, one of Queensland’s most important sectors. Some of its most important work to support Queenslanders who are in the industry or are commissioning work from builders are:
- providing Australian-leading insurance that helps to safeguard building work
- helping make sure builders are licensed, work is done to standard and any defects are rectified
- helping protect the building and construction industry from unscrupulous contractors
- working to help tradies get paid
10% of Queenslanders are employed in Building and Construction. If you work in and with construction, QBCC can help weed out unscrupulous contractors and resolve disagreement about payments or monies owed, without going to court.
Check out this video on how QBCC helps tradies.
QBCC also lobbies for Queenslanders to always use a licensed contractor, so that consumers are always covered by the Queensland Home Warranty Insurance, a scheme designed to assist homeowners when issues occur.
