Training Boost for Industry Support Staff
From October, clerical and administration staff in the building and construction industry will be able to access training course subsidies previously only available to front line tradies, following eligibility changes announced by Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ).

Annual Wage Review 2018
The Fair Work Commission is currently reviewing submissions before handing down the 2018 annual wage review decision. MPAQ would like to remind members that each year the Award wage rates increase.
New Casual Conversion Provisions
On 1 October 2018 a new standard conversion clause was incorporated into 85 Awards, giving some casual workers the right to request full-time or part-time employment if they have worked certain, regular hours over a 12 month period.

Adult Apprentice Wage Increase Update
MPAQ, as part of Master Plumbers Australia, has been successful in a submission to the Fair Work Commission to delay an increase to the national minimum wage for adult apprentices. This increase is now in line with the increase to the Plumbing and Fire Sprinklers Award 2010, which will take place from 1 November 2020.
